I first heard Danny McClain play drums with Grand Ulena via a promo that was sent to me when I was writing for The Broken Face. Grand Ulena was truly a force a to be reckoned with in the avant noise multiverse. Over the years I felt like I got to know him through one of my closest friends, Travis. I met him once and saw him play on the same night in September of 2010. Though I didn't know him well, I know he will truly be missed. He died too young. He rocked so very hard.
